A doula for everyone that wants one! DONA International
I would love to share my love for births and babies with you. Congratulations on your pregnancy! Having a baby is one of the most fulfilling experiences of your life. Pregnancy and labor are unique to each person. I would love to assist you in having the birth you desire. Bringing a new person into this world can be a wonderful time, but for some it is filled with questions, concerns, and medical interventions. It would be my privilege to be By Your Side during your journey.
So What is a Doula?
The word Doula comes from a Greek word that means “servant”. Today a Doula still serves, but specifically, a Birth Doula gives continuous support to the birthing person and their families during Pregnancy, Labor, Birth and shortly after Birth. We are caregivers at heart! Birth Doulas provide personalized care, but do not perform medical tasks or give medical advice. We offer the gift of presence and calm in the midst of what can be a stressful and changing time.
I am By Your Side to provide emotional encouragement, physical comfort measures, and information to help with decision-making. Guidance, stress reducing techniques, and physical support promotes confidence for both parents. We help the Partner to be the hero! Doulas do the necessary tasks at hand and lets the Partner focus on just being there in whatever way they want to be.
Some of the benefits of having a Doula:
- Less need for medication during labor and delivery
- Shorter labors
- More vaginal births without the need for interventions
- Babies with better outcomes and higher Apgar Scores
- Education to make informed decisions
- Birth Planning with confidence
- Guidance for the Partner and family
- More long-term satisfaction with the Birthing experience
- Creating an atmosphere for better Bonding and
- Getting a better start with Breastfeeding.

Deb was absolutely wonderful! She answered every question and concern we had and was always available to help. She also prepared us so well for labor and delivery. We had fantastic strategies in our toolkit to help us through intense contractions. I’m so thankful for the opportunity to work with her! After our baby’s delivery she even brought delicious homemade muffins, gifts for our little one and checked to make sure we had plenty of resources for postpartum recovery and caring for our new baby. I highly recommend working with Deb! Madison D.
Postpartum Doulas provide care for both the mother and baby as well as the family in your home. I care for you in that time between birth and 12 weeks, known as the “4th Trimester.” This can be one of the most exciting times of your life, but it can also be stressful and draining. Most prepare for the birth, but sometimes forget that this new baby comes home eventually and that there are many adjustments to make. Just dealing with sleep deprivation alone can cause emotions to be raw. If there are complications with the mom or baby this adds to the stress. This tiny baby can turn a household upside down with their needs as they adjust to life outside the womb. You may wonder how such a wee one can bring so much joy and at the same time change the dynamics of a family forever.
A postpartum doula is uniquely trained to care for mother and baby following the birth up through 12 weeks. I love to care for the whole family – infants, mama, partner and siblings- bringing a sense of calm into the home, and giving confidence to the family is extremely important to me. I want to leave knowing that your family is not just getting by, but thriving!
Deb is so wonderful! She has a way of knowing what you need, when you need it, without being asked. She has a soft way of taking care of you that doesn’t make her a burden but also doesn’t impose on your home or space either. She was truly wonderful in the day to day things like helping around the house or giving me a moment to rest while helping with the baby or kids. I really appreciated all she did while I was recovering postpartum. She just has a natural mother instinct that calms a new mom like myself. I would recommend her highly to anyone! Bekah B.
